A Hybrid working model
Now offices are fully open we have embraced a hybrid working model, which allows our employees to split their time between the office and other locations, something we hope will provide everyone much more flexibility to their working week. The expectation is that working life at Hogarth will involve working from the office for about 50% of the time for most people. What does an API Integration Specialist do at Hogarth?
The API Integration Specialist will be responsible for integrating partner APIs with our systems, ensuring a seamless and efficient process. This role involves working closely with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to align on integration requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation in RESTful APIs, JSON, and API security best practices, and will contribute to documentation, testing, and continuous improvement of the integration process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with partners to understand their API specifications and integrate them with our systems, ensuring smooth and reliable data exchange.
- Act as a technical point of contact between internal teams, partners, and stakeholders to ensure clear and accurate integration requirements.
- Participate in the design, development, and testing of API integrations using tools such as Postman, cURL, Datadog, and Swagger.
- Analyze and troubleshoot API integration issues, ensuring seamless communication between systems.
- Support technical discussions with partners and internal teams to evaluate integration approaches and refine solutions.
- Identify opportunities for improving the integration process through research, validation, and performance optimization.
- Ensure that all API integrations follow industry-standard security best practices, including authentication and encryption.
- Assist in the creation and refinement of technical documentation to ensure clarity for both internal and external users.
- Participate in API testing to validate functionality and reliability.
- Work collaboratively with partner engineering teams and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of integration projects.
Requirements:
- 3+ of experience working with API integrations and testing.
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and JSON for seamless data exchange between systems.
- Hands-on experience with API integration tools such as Postman, cURL, Datadog and Swagger.
- In-depth knowledge of API security best practices, including authentication, authorization, and encryption.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical details to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to analyze and troubleshoot API-related issues and ensure a smooth integration process.
- Experience with API testing and validation.
- Strong scripting skills in Python and Bash to automate network tasks.
- Experience in a Linux/Unix Environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple integration projects simultaneously.
- Experience supporting technical documentation and refining requirements.
- Familiarity with cloud-based API platforms or microservices architecture is a plus.
- Understanding API performance optimization techniques is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including effective presentation with a dynamic attitude.

Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications.
